Yachts |
Yachts enter Tarbert through the main ferry approach past the Islands of Scotasay and now pass the berth to the new marina located past the linkspan. The marina, owned and operated by a 3rd party, is ideally suited to visiting yacht traffic. Please check the local ferry timetable and liaise direct with the Marina operator who will advise on arrival instructions. Yachts must make prior booking before approaching the pier. |
Cruise Ships |
Cruise ships cannot tender to the pier anymore as there is no longer a landing platform. For more information on things to do on the Isle of Harris visit our destination page. |
Cruise Ship Tenders |
There is a landing platform with steps adjacent to the pier. There is not a slipway at the pier but there is a 3rd party owned slipway adjacent to the local marina. |
Commercial Vessels |
Only commercial vessels less than 100m and a draught no more than 4m can berth alongside at Tarbert |
Fishing Vessels |
Fishing vessels can use the main ferry berth when vacant from the ferry. Prior booking is advised. |
About the local harbour |
The harbour is situated in the main village on the Isle of Harris. Tarbert benefits from being a generally sheltered harbour. The harbour is very centrally located for touring the Isle of Harris and is a 5 minute walk from The Isle Of Harris Distillery, Isle Of Harris Tweed Shop and local bus stance. |

All vessels operating in the bay are requested to listen to VHF CH 12 at all times. Large vessels will make movement safety announcements on VHF CH 12. It is important all vessels are aware of these movements so appropriate action can be taken to ensure navigational safety.
