Information on performance monitoring

Caledonian MacBrayne publishes details of its performance with respect to reliability and punctuality. These performance statistics are published on a monthly basis and will be displayed on our website.

This following explains the basis on which the reports show how CalMac is performing against the published timetable.

RELIABILITY

a) “Scheduled Sailings” are timetabled sailings.

b) "Operated Sailings" are all sailings carried out including additional sailings.

c) "Cancelled Sailings" are scheduled sailings which have not been carried out.

d) "Additional Sailings" are those undertaken outwith the published timetable.

e) "Diverted Sailings" are those carried out to or from an alternative port to the port advertised.

f) “Reliability %” is the % of operated sailings against scheduled (excluding additional sailings)

PUNCTUALITY

(a) "Scheduled Sailings" are those advertised in the published timetable.

(b) "On Time" is defined as an operated, scheduled sailing, arriving within 5 minutes of the published arrival time on routes with a crossing time of up to 30 minutes or arriving within 10 minutes of the published arrival time on routes with a crossing time between 31 and 90 minutes or arriving within 15 minutes of the published arrival time on routes with a crossing time of more than 90 minutes.

(c)"Late" is defined as an operated, scheduled sailing, arriving over 5 minutes after the published arrival time on routes with a crossing time of up to 30 minutes or arriving over 10 minutes after the published arrival time on routes with a crossing time of between 31 and 90 minutes or arriving over 15 minutes after the published arrival time on routes with a crossing time of more than 90 minutes.
